Mar al Cielo is located just 2 km (1.5 miles) south of the beautiful and quaint beach town of Lo de Marcos (a 5 min. drive, 10 minute bike ride or a 25 minute walk along a quiet scenic road). Only 50 minutes north of the Puerto Vallarta Airport, passing Sayulita and San Francisco along the way, Lo de Marcos is a wonderful and relaxing little town with a true traditional feel that offers plenty of beachfront and local restaurants, grocery stores, office services, a pharmacy, and a town square that often hosts dances and engaging cultural events.

Here at Mar al Cielo you are close enough to enjoy the town if you choose but far enough away to surround yourself with only the peaceful sounds of nature and serene privacy of the luxurious jungle and ocean surroundings.

While only 5 minutes away from Lo de Marcos, Mar al Cielo sits on the edge of a vast area of precious and pristine coastal tropical jungle that remains here in Mexico. We operate Mar al Cielo as a secluded Eco-Retreat on 4 hectares (11 acres) of carefully protected jungle habitat with 275 m (900 ft) of ocean front and only one house available to rent. Interactions with tropical and exotic birds and animals are a part of life here at Mar al Cielo and we are privileged to be situated unbelievably close to the migration route of the great whales, with sights and sounds that truly take your breath away!

To reach the quiet and serene beach in front of our retreat you follow our private meandering path down through the jungle for 5 minutes to arrive on the sand. This is a wonderful and secluded place to pick-nick, play in the surf, beach comb and tan.

The best place to swim is a 5 minute walk north along the sand and around the corner to a lovely little protected cove with perfect sand and sun all year round with a quaint, clean family run restaurant that serves breakfast through dinner, grilled fish, fresh cocos and cool cervezas any time of day.
